Forager Wine North Canterbury
AVAILABLE
The first release of Little Forager Riesling. Grown on the Glasnevin gravel soils on the Longsmith Vineyard. The vines are carefully tended by owner Maura Long where she grows grapes with ripeness and freshness.
The 2026 season was warm and dry, allowing the vines to set a healthy crop. Mid-way through the growing season the season turned to cooler conditions with periodic rain events, slowing the ripening.
Picked by hand with friends and family, the bunches are predominantly whole bunch pressed, apart from a portion that is foot crushed, soaked for 48 hours and fermented in an old French oak barrel.
Sugars were moderate at harvest and acidity was below normal concentration levels, giving an immediate balance and approachability to the young wine. We aged the wine for five months on yeast lees and allowed a small portion in barrel to go through malolactic fermentation for finer textures and interest.
Fermented to 10 g/L, this wine is beautiful upon release, while continuing to age for the following 15 years +.
